Very intense ruby color with deep red rim. Classic Rioja aromas with spices, very mature fruit, toasted notes and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine exhibits mature and elegant tannins, a touch of fine French oak, fresh acidity and a persistent finish.
The vineyards consisting of old vines are located in the Rioja Alta designation at altitudes of between 2,100 and 2,600 ft above sea level. Soils consist of poor limestone terraces, of clay-calcareous nature. These terraces are mostly made up of sandstones and marls whose origin is in the Quaternary era.
Hand harvested with low yields and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 15 months in used American oak barrels and 3 months in French barrels.
Pairs beautifully with paella, roasted leg of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, lamb tagine, grilled chorizo, barbecued beef, and even ratatouille.
Benefits from decanting, serve at 65°F.
