Intense cherry red color with deep red glimmers. Its aromas include fully ripened fruit with typical grape harvest fragrances, toasted notes and spices from the new barrel. On the palate the wine is dense and structured with smooth, mature tannins that give a feeling of plenitude and complexity, finishing long and lingering.
The vineyards consisting of old vines are located in the Rioja Alta designation at altitudes of between 2,100 and 2,600 ft above sea level. Soils consist of poor limestone terraces, of clay-calcareous nature. These terraces are mostly made up of sandstones and marls whose origin is in the Quaternary era.
Hand harvested with low yields and fermented in stainless steel tanks using cryo-maceration to enhance aromatics and tannins. Aged for six months in new French oak barrels.
This is a wine that goes well with grilled meats and game or slow-cooked meat such as stews to harmonize the food and wine.
Benefits from decanting, serve at 65°F.
